Disciples 1 and 2 are probably my favourites, though the graphics might be a little dated, though the games are still great. Disciples 3 was a dumpster fire, but I've heard great things about the newest Disciples though I haven't had the chance to play it. Besides Kings Bounty, Disciples is the closest gameplay-wise that I've found.

Yes, you can play versus eachother, or team up against the ai :) Some people have been reporting trouble with their connections, but none of the people i have played with have disconnected even once. I keep reading posts about people having issues with the multiplayer, but I have yet to have issues with it, myself.

You can either run Heroes II. in fullscreen or you need to have them set up correctly, like below: “Right click into the empty space, choose “Add”, pick the location. Go to the “Video” TAB, right down pick “Initial resolution: 1280 x 1024” and on the left side “Force Win Resize”. Save by OK and run by clicking on the icon.”.
